Bharati Sharma Patel specializes in complex civil litigation, representing clients in product liability, securities and consumer class action litigation in federal and state courts in multimillion dollar actions nationwide. Prior to joining The Wolf Law Firm, Ms. Patel worked at several Philadelphia plaintiff law firms, including one of the largest plaintiff class action firms in the country. Notably, Ms. Patel assisted in achieving settlements in securities class actions, including In re Marvell Tech. Group Ltd. (N.D. Cal.) ($72 million recovery for class members); In re ProQuest (E.D. Mich.) ($20 million recovery for class members); In re Michael Baker Corp. (W.D. Pa.) ($4.5 million recovery for class members); and second chaired a trial involving a hormone replacement therapy drug, which resulted in a verdict of $3 million.
Ms. Patel is a 2001 graduate of the American University Washington College of Law, where she was a member of the International Law Review. She received a Master of Public Administration from the George Washington University in 1998, where she was a member of Pi Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for public administration, and received her B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.
Following law school, Ms. Patel clerked for the Honorable Stephen Skillman, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania (2001); Supreme Court of New Jersey (2001); United States District Court, District of New Jersey (2001); United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit (2008); and the United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania (2010).
Ms. Patel is a member of the American Association for Justice, and has been an invited speaker at the American Association for Justice Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Seminar on Hormone Therapy litigation. She is the founder and former President of the South Asian Bar Association of Philadelphia, and served on the Executive Committees of the North American Bar Association and Philadelphia Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Division.
